These family Christmas games are a great way to add some fun in your holiday celebration and work well for people of all ages.
Every year we host Christmas Eve for our families. We like to enjoy family Christmas games and for several years we played the Guess Who Bottle Game. However, this game is definitely past its prime.
This year I've found several fun games to play and am sharing the process with you today.
Family Christmas Games
The Prizes
Everyone will bring a $25 gift card. The goal is to have everyone be a winner, so everyone will go home with a gift card too. The host gathers the cards when the party starts and places them in a Santa hat or some other fun themed box.
Game Cards
On the evening of the party each person will be given a game card and pen as they enter. Explain that they can start working on the Guess Who game and write down their guess for the number of ornaments on the tree, however the rest of the games will start after dinner.
Guess the Number of Ornaments
Just like it sounds, the game card is a spot for everyone to guess the number of ornaments on the Christmas tree. The closest two or three people win.
Guess Who
Prior to the party the host requests each guest to email or text a lessor known fact about themself. A grid of these facts are printed on the game card. Everyone must guess who the person is, and can write their name or initial over the square. This can be played Bingo style where anyone with a row or column of correct answers wins a prize or simply the most correct answers overall.
Two Truths and a Lie
In addition to bringing their gift card the guests are instructed to think ahead for the game, Two Truths and a Lie. However, in this version the guest should think of their Best Christmas Present Ever or the Worst Christmas Present ever received. After dinner each person will have an opportunity to state their Two Truths and Lie while the others write down which is a lie. The person with the most correct answers wins, and can select from the Santa hat of gift cards. You can also have and 2nd and 3rd place winner.
Christmas Trivia
For the remaining gift cards read some fun Christmas trivia to the group, allowing only those who have not yet won, to guess the correct answers. If they don't know the answer they can "Ask the audience" for help.

Oh my gosh I love this idea... First I thought you were going to be mentioning board games. I love this idea - we're going to a party this week where they're doing a white elephant gift and I have to say I like this idea much better. I bet Christmas Eve at your home is wonderful.

Hi Carole,
Thank you. White elephant gift games are fun too. I just like to have some entertainment and enjoy playing games. Sometimes I think my family get annoyed, I know they will all have fun.
