Grow Write Guild Prompt #18: “Write a Eulogy for a Plant that Died”

Oh, grocery store primrose. I was so happy to see so many brightly colored beauties, during the heart of winter, in my local grocery store, so I bought one and placed it on my kitchen windowsill. This primrose brought me many days of enjoyment. It was so cheerful, sitting there proudly, blooming day after day.  When springtime came, I eagerly transplanted it to a special place in my garden. Primroses are perennials, so I was hoping it would be a happy resident for many years.

Alas, it was not meant to be. Once the flowers died only the foliage remained. The next year, though I waited and waited, I was disappointed to find out that this primrose was not coming back. My time with the grocery store primrose was short, but very sweet, and I will continue to try again with another this winter.
