Okra & Beef Stew aka Lebanese Bamieh

Ingredients – 1.5 pounds okra – 1 pound round steak – 4 cloves of crushed garlic  – 4 c beef broth – 2 lemons – dash of cinnamon – 2 T of olive oil

In a large heavy pot brown the beef in olive oil. Sprinkle on a dash of cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Add half of the garlic and stir well.

Add juice of 1 lemon & the beef broth. Reduce heat & simmer for 1 hour. Add the okra, remaining garlic,& lemon. Bring to boil. Reduce heat medium-low & simmer for 20 min,

Serve this with long grain rice that has some turmeric added to the water while cooking. Just a pinch brings a beautiful golden color to the rice.
