Sweet and Spicy Blood Orange Margarita Cocktail with Cayenne Salt

This sweet and spicy blood orange margarita recipe which uses beautiful blood orange juice combines with cayenne pepper salt for a unique cocktail.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup fresh blood orange juice 4-6 oranges
  • 1/2 cup tequila
  • 2 tablespoons triple sec
  • 3 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper

Instructions
 

  • Combine salt and pepper in a bowl. Pour onto a shallow dish for rimming the glasses.
  • Using the left over orange fruit, wet the rims of your glasses and set them into the cayenne salt.
  • Into a shaker full of ice place the blood orange juice, tequila and triple sec.
  • Shake well for about one minute.
  • Pour into glasses and serve.

Notes

There's no added sugar in this drink and I don't think it needs it. However, you can add some simple syrup if you like. Just boil equal parts of water and sugar on the stove, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Once cooled bottle and keep it the refrigerator until ready to use.
