Brown Sugar Glazed Ham Recipe

Brown sugar glazed ham is a tradition for Easter and it's so easy to make at home. Just a few basic ingredients and you will have a delicious main entrée for your holiday dinner.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 pound semi-boneless ham

Glaze

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup of water

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees
  • Make the glaze by combining all ingredients in a saucepan.
  • Heat and stir until well combined.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes on med-low heat stirring until all ingredients have dissolved.
  • Remove glaze from heat.
  • Score ham by slicing the outside in 1/2 inch increments about 1/4 inch into the ham. Then at an angle across the first score marks.
  • Set the ham into a deep baking pan that was sprayed with cooking oil.
  • Brush on the glaze liberally all over the ham.
  • Bake for 1 hour. Remove and re-glaze
  • Bake for 1 additional hour.
  • Remove from oven and let sit for 10 minutes.
  • Carve thick or thin slices.

Notes

You can cover the ham loosely with foil after the first hour if the glaze it getting too dark for your taste.
