Felt Flower Wreath Tutorial for Fall or Any Time of Year

Make a beautiful DIY felt flower wreath with an old picture frame. It looks so pretty on a door, or above a table. You can hang it as a square, or diamond. Either is so pretty!

Equipment

  • Hot Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
  • Fabric scissors

Materials

  • Any kind of wreath base
  • Fall Colored Felt
  • Needle & Thread
  • Fabric glue or all-purpose glue
  • Flower Template

Instructions

  • Pop-out the glass from the picture frame for the wreath base.
  • Use the included template to print out flowers.
  • Trace and cut out as many as you need.
  • Stack three different shapes of felt on top with a contrasting color for the center.
  • With a doubled black thread, sew from one edge to the other on the circle, making a star.
  • Three stitches in total.
  • Pull taut to give the flower a puckered look.
  • Stitch a little notch in the back, and knot to finish.

  • Create a Rosette
  • Cut at one edge, about 1/4 of an inch, around and around.
  • Stop when you get to the size of the base.
  • Using some fabric glue start rolling, and glue the beginning piece.
  • Continue to add a little glue along the edge forming a rosette, until you reach the base.
  • Put some more glue on the base, and cover the bottom.

  • Leaves
  • Make leaves by sandwiching a bit of wire between two identical pieces of felt with some hot glue.
  • Twist a few stems together to form groups of leaves.

  • Frame
  • Paint or stain your frame.
  • Use hot glue to attach the large flowers to the frame first.
  • Then add the rosettes and leaves
