Materials

  • Fresh and dried flowers and other botanicals in fall colors
  • Small tobacco basket for the swag frame
  • Floral wire
  • Raffia or ribbon

Instructions

  • Layout your plant material starting with a long sturdy group.
  • Then start laying groups on top of the first group an inch or two below each layer.
  • Continue staggering the plant material in groups making sure that there is enough stem that you can gather them all at the top.
  • Gather all the stems at the top and secure them together by wrapping floral wire around all the stems several times.
  • Then use more wire to attach the swag to the tobacco basket.
  • Trim the ends so that they are all even.
  • Add some raffia or other ribbon as a bow to cover the floral wire.
  • Hang on your front door or anywhere in the house.

Notes

You can use artificial flowers and other botanicals too. Or any mix of fresh, dried, and artificial.
