For a little sweetness, you can make a balsamic glaze by simmering a couple of tablespoons of brown sugar in a cup of balsamic vinegar. It will reduce to a thicker consistency after about 20 minutes or so and you can drizzle it on the salad instead of simple balsamic vinegar.
