Apple Crisp

Here's a fast and easy recipe for fall or winter using fresh apples. No fillers are needed for a tasty dessert that lets the flavor of the fruit shine.

Ingredients
  

  • 8- 10 apples peeled & cut into 1 inch pieces
  • Juice of one lemon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

Topping

  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 cups oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 sticks butter melted 3/4 cup

Instructions
 

  • Toss the apples with lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon.
  • In a separate bowl make the topping by combining flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Add melted butter and mix well.
  • Place apples in a large baking dish. Cover with topping by heaping it in the middle and gently spreading it down to the sides.
  • Place baking dish on a cookie sheet to catch any juices that may spillover.
  • Bake at 350 for 1 hour or until apples have softened

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Tastes great anytime. breakfast, snacks, dessert.
Check the crisp around 45 minutes to see if the top is getting too brown. If so, cover with foil for the remaining time.
