Baked Crab Balls

This easy recipe for baked crab balls gives you all the flavors of crab cake bites without all the extra fat from frying. A delicious party appetizer to serve or bring to your next get-together.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound lump crab meat
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • zest lemon
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons old bay seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon tabasco sauce or other hot sauce optional
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs

Instructions
 

  • Drain any water from the crab meat.
  • Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
  • Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or longer.
  • Use a teaspoon to scoop out a small amount of the crab mixture and gently roll it into a ball.
  • Place the crab ball into a separate bowl of panko breadcrumbs and coat it all around.
  • Place on a baking sheet that has been greased with olive oil or cooking spray.
  • Continue until you've filled the baking sheet.
  • Bake in a 400 degree oven for 15 minutes or until the crab balls are toasted and cooked through.
  • Serve with lemon wedges and cocktail sauce.
