Ground Turkey Chili with Poblano Peppers

This stove top healthy ground turkey chili recipe is made with poblano peppers, beans, and crushed tomatoes for a delicious hearty meal.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 1 medium yellow onion diced
  • 3 poblano peppers diced 12 ounces
  • 2 cloves of garlic grated
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • dash of salt and black pepper
  • 1 can of black beans drained
  • 1 can of pinto beans drained
  • 1 can of chili beans
  • 1 large 28 ounce can of crushed tomatoes

Instructions
 

  • Saute onions, peppers, and garlic in olive in a large heavy pot on medium-high heat for approximately 5 minutes or until the vegetables have softened.
  • Add all of the spices and stir well.
  • Add ground turkey and cook until browned, stirring continually.
  • Add beans and crushed tomatoes.
  • Stir well and scrape the bottom.
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Serve as is or with cooked macaroni or rice.
  • Top with sour cream, grated cheese, and cilantro.

Notes

Lots of variations can be done with this recipe.
Use different combinations of beans and spices. Make a toppings bar with chopped jalapenos, cilantro, sour cream, grated cheese, chopped olive, chopped raw onions, and more.
