  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 pkg active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • 3.5 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Egg Wash

  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons cream or milk

Instructions

  • Grease an 8 x 8-inch baking pan
  • Heat milk, water, sugar, and butter in microwave about 40 secs until it is warm but not hot. ( approx. 110 degrees)
  • Add mixture to a large mixing bowl and let it sit for 5 minutes or until the yeast gets foamy.
  • Add flour and salt a little at a time and mix well.
  • Remove to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes. The dough should no longer be sticky and makes a nice round shape.
  • Divide into 16 even pieces.
  • Pinch edges into the middle to form a ball and set into the baking pan with pinched edges on the bottom.
  • Preheat oven 350 degrees
  • Cover with a towel for 20 minutes.
  • brush egg wash on top.
  • Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Place the baking pan in the bottom of the oven so that the top doesn't brown too quickly. Alternatively you could cover lightly with foil.
