Homemade Vanilla Extract Recipe

This homemade vanilla extract is the perfect gift for all your baker friends. It's easy to create but does require a little patience.

Equipment

  • Scissors

Materials

  • 25 Whole Vanilla Beans
  • 80 Proof vodka 750 ml I used Absolut
  • 2 oz Amber bottles 12
  • Kraft paper labels
  • Ribbon or twine for tags

Instructions

  • Cut the vanilla beans into 2-inch pieces.
  • Add them to a large glass jar.
  • Add vodka.
  • Set the jar in a cool dark place for 8 weeks or more.
  • Strain the beans if desired with a coffee filter.
  • Pour into individual amber glass bottles.
  • Print out the included labels on any type of paper and glue them to the bottles.
