Baked Apple Pie Oatmeal Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups of old-fashioned oats
  • 2 large apples ~ 2 cups peeled and chopped thin
  • 4 cups of milk
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • juice of 1/2 a lemon ~ 1 tablespoon
  • extra thin slices of apple for decoration optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Spray a 9 x 13 inch casserole baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Toss apples with lemon juice and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add oats, milk, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla to the apples and stir.
  • Pour into the greased baking pan.
  • Top with a few decorative slices of apples in the middle if desired.
  • Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Notes

Substitute different fresh fruit like bananas, dried fruit, or a mix of fruit like berries for a different flavor.
Add sliced almonds, pecans, or other nuts to the mix or on top.
Try different spices such as pumpkin spice or nutmeg.
