Brush gel stain over the wood blocks.
Paint the longer wood pieces with black craft paint.
Print out the labels and numbers.
Once dry, cut "days until" and "Christmas" to size and glue them to the front edge of the black painted wood pieces.
Once dry apply another coat of mod podge on top.
Cut out the numbers. Use 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 for one block. For the second block use 0,1, 2, 6, 7, and 8. Note: You will use the 6 upsidedown for 9 on the appropriate day.
Rub white chalk on the back of each number.
Then center it on a block side and trace over the number with a pencil.
Remove the paper and fill in with a black Sharpie.
When you are finished tracing the numbers you can wipe down any excess chalk with a rag.
Use a wood oil or a wipe on or spray poly to protect the blocks if desired.
