This Christmas countdown project is made with wooden pieces, printables that you can glue on, and numbers you can trace for a beautiful yet easy piece of holiday decor.
It's Christmas season! I've made a couple of DIY advent calendars in the past, but this year I made some Christmas countdown blocks for the occasion. Though it doesn't come with toys or treats for the kids, it is still fun to change the blocks each day.

Step 3. Print out the labels and numbers from the image above.
Step 4. Cut out and glue the labels to the front of the scrap wood using Mod Podge or any white glue.
Step 5. Brush on more Mod Podge to give the labels a finished look.
Step 6. Cut out the numbers and rub white chalk on the back.
Step 7. Make sure the number is centered on the block face and go over the number with a pencil to transfer the number onto the block.
Note: You will use 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 for one block. For the second block use numbers 0,1, 2, 6, 7, and 8. Use the 6 upside down for 9 on the applicable date.
Step 8. Fill in the number with a black Sharpie.
Step 9. Wipe down any chalk dust from the blocks and use polyurethane or wood oil to protect the block if desired.
PS: You can cut out and glue on the numbers if you want. Conversely, you can trace the "days until" and "Christmas."
Start the holiday season on December 1st with this fun Christmas countdown sign. Make sure that you set it somewhere you will remember to change it daily.
