Here's a fast and easy way to adorn your dining table this holiday season. It's a Christmas candle centerpiece with fresh cuttings of evergreens from your yard or local store surrounding a pillar candle.
Fill your box with clean empty cans or bottles without the tops.
Place a shorter can or bottle in the center to hold and lift up the vase with the candle.
Place a pillar candle into a cylindrical vase and set it in the middle.
Fill the other cans and bottles 2/3 full with water.
Start placing your plant material into the cans on the outer edges using those that can spill over the sides.
Then fill in with other evergreens until the box is full.
Make sure to check the box from all sides and adjust as necessary and/or fill in with more plant cuttings.
Set the box in the middle of your dining table or on a buffet for all to enjoy.
Notes
I used mostly empty cans from our recycling but you can also use small mason jars, cups, mugs or vases to hold the greenery. You can also find glass cylinder vases and pillar candles at dollar stores and craft stores. Chances are good that they will be on sale this time of year.
