Summer's almost over and the nurseries are starting to have great sales. If you are looking to fill in a shady spot in your garden check out the following list of some of my favorite perennials that do well in the shade.

A really large blue hosta. Gets about 4 ft tall by 4.5 ft wide. My cat loves to lounge in the shade underneath. Doesn't seems to ever be bothered by snails or slugs.

This one has that airy cottage feel with sweet heart-shaped flowers in the spring. The foliage dies back in the late summer but comes back every spring.

Variegated Solomon's Seal. Grows nicely in a fairly dark area of my garden. The variegated leaves add a nice light to the area.

I love the pretty markings on the leaves that are around all season. Delicate flowers that bloom in the summer are an extra bonus.

False Forget-me-not. This one has the clear blue flowers that many of us covet. Great for filling a bare spot, volunteers in different parts of the garden and can even take some sun.
The lovely one
Beautiful! I love to have a beautiful yard, but I'm not much of a gardener. My favorite flowering shade loving plant is my hydrangea!

Yes I love hydrangeas too! Jus thought I'd throw a couple different ones out there that maybe some may have not tried. Thanks for stopping by!
