Perhaps you remember this song from childhood (lyrics above). But did you know that it's very easy to grow? Lily of the valley is a pretty perennial plant with unique white flowers among deep green foliage in the springtime, and the flowers are very fragrant.

Lily of the valley flowers grow well in most climates. It thrives in shady areas, under trees and shrubs. However, it can take some sun, making it very versatile.
It's a small plant growing only 10 inches tall, making it a good edging plant or front of a perennial border, and it works well as a ground cover.

Later in the season, it will die back to the ground, and if it gets too much such will burn out. However, even if that happens, it's very likely to come back next year.
