Enjoy this timeless chocolate crinkle cookie recipe that makes over four dozen cookies for any special occasion.

Around here, these dense brownie-like cookies are a staple at wedding cookie tables, bake sales, and Christmas cookie swaps.

So some of you may already have a similar recipe in your arsenal. However, I'm always amazed to find out some things that I think everyone has already seen, or may turn out to be new to them. They do take a little extra time, as you need to roll them in powdered sugar, but they look really nice and taste even better.

    Making Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

Step 1. Whisk together the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.

Wet ingredients in a bowl including butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla.

Step 2. Cream the granulated sugar with the butter using a hand mixer or stand mixer.

Step 3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture and blend well.

Combined cookie dough in a bowl.

Step 4. Add the flour mixture to the butter, sugar, and egg mixture a little at a time. I usually go with three batches, mixing well between.

Step 5. Then place the dough in the fridge for one hour.

Step 6. Use a small cookie scoop to portion the dough and roll it into a ball before dipping/rolling it in powdered sugar.

Note: You will need to mix up the powdered sugar after a while, as it will tend to clump together.

Step 7. Place the dough balls on a cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes in a 350 degree preheated oven.

Step 8. Remove and allow the cookies to cool for 5 minutes before transferring them to cooling racks to continue to completely cool.

Store in an airtight container for several days or freeze for the future.

They are really good, and though they take a little extra time with the rolling and coating process, I think they are worth it.
