Make this easy and beautiful Williamsburg fruit wreath "Della Robbia" style for your Christmas mantel or holiday front door decor.

A large pine wreath with real and artificial fruit, pine cones, faux red berries and a large green bowl on a mantle.

If you've ever been to Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, around the holidays, then you probably are familiar with their "Della Robbia" fruit wreaths. Originally inspired by the fifteenth-century Italian sculptor from Forence, Italy, Luca della Robbia, these fruit and natural wreaths became popular in Colonial Williamsburg during the mid 1930s.

I love the idea of using natural ingredients in my home decor. This year, I went for a mix of real and artificial materials, but the look is still pretty and makes a great easy Christmas decoration.

    Making a Fruit Wreath

Step 1. Create some orange pomanders by inserting whole cloves into mandarins, clementines, or small oranges.

Inserting a floral pick with wire into a mandarin orange pomander.

Step 2. Insert a floral pick with wire into the pomander. This will help you attach the fruit to the wreath as you can wrap a branch around the pick as well as the wire.

Step 3. Place your wreath on a table and plan out how you want your fruit to be displayed. Take a picture on your phone for reference.

Step 4. Make a bow for the wreath and attach it by twisting a couple of branches to the back of the bow. This will be the top of the wreath.
