If you are looking for a twist on the standard cookie recipe, try making these chocolate chip caramel pretzel cookies. It's a winning combination you'll want to make again and again.

I'm a huge fan of chocolate covered pretzels. When my friend was telling me about some cookies she had at a local restaurant, I had to try to make something similar. She said they were large chocolate chip cookies that had caramel, salt, and pretzels in them. What a great flavor combination, right?

Ingredients
- all-purpose flour
- baking soda
- salt
- butter
- granulated sugar
- light brown sugar
- large eggs
- vanilla extract
- bittersweet chocolate chips
- caramel bits
- crushed pretzels
- whole small pretzels
- flaky sea salt

Making Caramel Pretzel Chocolate Chip Cookies
Step 1. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl and mix them with a wire whisk. Set aside.

Step 2. In a large mixing bowl, use a hand or stand mixer to combine softened butter with white and light brown sugar. Mix until smooth.
Step 3. Then add the eggs, mixing one at a time into the butter and sugar.
Step 4. Add vanilla extract to the same wet ingredient mixture.
Step 5. Then add the dry ingredients (flour mixture) to the wet ingredients 1/3 at a time, mixing well in between.

Step 6. Crush pretzel pieces by placing some in a baggie and using a rolling pin or anything you can find to smash them into small pieces.

Step 7. Hand fold the crushed pretzels, chocolate chips, and caramel bits into the cookie dough.

Step 8. Use a medium cookie scoop or a large tablespoon to portion dough onto cookie sheets. Set a whole pretzel on top of each one.

Step 9. Bake in a pre-heated 350-degree oven for 5 minutes. Then remove the trays and press the pretzel into the dough slightly. Set the trays on opposite racks (top goes on the bottom, and bottom goes on the top) and continue baking for 5-7 minutes.

Step 10. Remove the cookies and sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Let them sit for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack or towel to continue cooling.

Once they have completely cooled, place the cookies in an airtight container and leave them on the counter for a few days. You can also freeze them for up to 2 months.

Can I tell you they are sooooo good! Another great one to add to the cookie swap, cookie table or bake sale list.
