Learn how to make a pinecone wreath with mini Hemlock pinecones and a wire hanger. It's a great natural decoration for the holidays and into winter.

We have Hemlock trees that line the side of our property and a few in the back. That means tons of mini pinecones for me to craft with. A while back, I made mini tabletop Pinecone Christmas trees. They looked great on the chest in our foyer.
Today I'm making sweet little wreaths to hang in our kitchen window. They will serve as both Christmas and winter decor, as I plan on leaving them up for a while.

- Scissors
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Dark wire coat hanger
- Mini pinecones
- Fresh cedar pieces
- Thin green velvet ribbon
- Disposable Gloves (optional)

Making Pinecone Wreaths
Step 1. Create a wire wreath form with a basic wire hanger. Open up the hanger (see above). I like black because any open space will blend and look like a shadow to the eye. However, you can use a gold one or a white one as is, or paint them black first.

Step 2. Wrap the end without a hook around to make a circle in the size you like, then cut off the excess. Take your time working with the wire, shape a nice circle to create a wire frame. Then wrap the end around the top of the circle to secure it in place. You can use your hands for most of this, but a pair of pliers may also be helpful, and you can use them to cut the excess wire.

Step 3. Start at the top on one side and begin hot gluing the pinecones to the wire. Place the pinecones on either side at an angle. Then fill in where needed.
Note: You may want to wear disposable gloves to protect your fingers, as there will be a lot of hot glue, and the pinecones are so small.

Step 4. Add in pieces of fresh cedar for contrast and tie a small green velvet bow at the neck to finish the look.

It would take some time to create one for each chair, but doesn't this look great?

I ended up making two to hang in our kitchen window. This picture doesn't do them justice due to the lighting.

Here's a little close-up of one of the wreaths in the window. They are simple, but I love the way they look.
