This time of year I’m enjoy decorating my front door for the fall season. There always seems to be a lot of entertaining going on and its fun to go out and shop for a few new things to greet our guest when they visit.
This year however, many of the plants on my front porch were still going strong and I thought their deep purples and greens would be a nice change from the usual fall color scheme. So I kept my large pot filled with perilla magilla and cascading lamium.
Next I added a couple of white mums tinged with pink to coordinate, a large white pumpkin and a few dark green button squash. I also removed the sweet potato vine and coleus from their bright turquoise pots and replaced them with older bronze ones from the shed. Then I added a little green apple colored wreath made from dried hydrangea flowers. I like the way it looks and it didn’t take long or cost very much to transform my summer porch to fall.
I hope this inspires some of you to use some of what you already have to transform and transition your front door decor. Maybe you have some pots in the back of your house that would look great in the front. Potted green herbs with their neutral green color would look really nice with pumpkins and gourds. What are you decorating with this fall?
