    Nutella Cruffins

    by Patti Estep · Nov 1, 2024

    Jump to Recipe

Enjoy this easy recipe for Nutella cruffins that uses prepared crescent rolls and the famous chocolate hazelnut spread for a delicious decadent muffin treat.

Nutella cruffins whole and cut in halt with a small bowl of sugar.

    What's a Cruffin?

This idea combines crescent rolls with different fillings that are baked in a muffin pan. Crescent + Muffin Pan = Cruffin. You can make them with all kinds of different flavors, cinnamon sugar, blueberry, pumpkin spice etc.

You could also use store-bought puff pastry found in the freezer aisle of the grocery store, and make them more of a cross between a croissant and a muffin, but these are easier.

I wanted to make something with chocolate for our weekend getaway so I tried it with Nutella, one of my niece's favorite flavors.

Nutella cruffins ingredients including 3 packages of crescent rolls and jar of Nutella and a bowl of organic sugar.

    How to Make Nutella Cruffins

    Ingredients

    • Crescent Rolls - each package makes four so I used three to fill a 12 cup muffin pan.
    • Nutella - I used the majority of a 13-ounce jar but I'd say you'd want at least a cup of your chosen filling.
    • Organic Sugar - This is used for dusting at the end. You could skip this step. Or you could use regular granulated sugar instead.
On package of crescent rolls unrolled on a lightly floured counter.

Step 1. Use a rolling pin to roll out a sheet of crescent roll dough onto a lightly floured surface. Pinch all the perforated lines closed with your fingers.

Small offset spatula spreading the Nutella filling over the pastry.

Step 2. Use an offset spatula to spread a thin layer of Nutella all over the crescent dough, about 1/3 of the jar.

Rolling up the crescent dough on the long side.

Step 3. Roll up the dough on the long side.

The rolled filled dough cut in half creating two logs.

Step 4. Cut the log in half.

Each log is cut in half lengthwise making four pieces.

Step 5. Cut down the center of each log to create 4 pieces.

One cut dough log and one rolled into a spiral.

Step 6. With the cut side up roll the log into a spiral shape. Continue with the other three logs and place the into the muffin pan.

Then repeat with the three other packages of crescent rolls and the remaining Nutella spread until you have 12 cruffins.

All spiraled pieces are set in a 12 section muffing pan to bake.

Step 7. Place the cruffins into a well-greased pan tray and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes until they are golden brown.

Step 8. Remove the muffin tin from the oven and sprinkle with organic sugar. (any sugar will do)

Step 9. Remove the cruffins from the muffin tin and set them on a cooling rack.

You can keep these cruffins in an airtight container for a couple of days but the sooner you eat them the better.

Enjoy these delicious and easy-to-make Nutella cruffins for a decadent breakfast, afternoon snack, or an anytime sweet treat.
