DIY gift bags that are made with felt and embroidery thread are easy to whip up and add a little extra special touch to small gifts such as cards or money. Perfect for the holidays, birthdays, or any time of year.
There's something about felt's soft texture that I like for crafting especially during the cold winter months. Today I'm sharing how a simple piece of felt can be used to create small (or any size) gift bags to add a gift card or a gift of money.

How to Make Felt Gift Bags
I used one of these 9 x 12-inch pieces of felt but you can use anything in your stash.
Fold up some of the felt from the bottom and a little on top.
Then cut them into three pieces.
Next, choose a coordinating or contrasting embroidery thread to sew up the sides and top edge. I used all 6 strands and a blanket stitch. The images above show the blanket stitch however, here is a video of how to create a blanket stitch to make it easier to see.
Add a little coin velcro tab for the closure and place your gift card or dollar bills inside.
So many choices and so many color combinations, this easy craft was such a joy to do. Perfect to create while watching TV in the evening.
Sweet handmade felt bags. Adds that little special touch for the hard to shop for people on your list.
