This easy teacup bird feeder tutorial is perfect for upcycling that pretty cup and saucer you found at the flea market. It's a great piece of garden art for the backyard and your feathered friends will love it.
This is a really popular DIY you may have seen before. I noticed others making something similar years ago and never got around to making one for myself until now. And, if you have been following me you know how I love to bird watch.
We recently updated our back porch so I wanted a new feeder close by that I could enjoy from the porch.

How to Make a Teacup Bird Feeder
- Pick up an old teacup and saucer at the thrift store, antique store, or yard sale. Or use one from your own collection. It doesn't matter it there is a little chip or crack. In fact, they would be perfect for this project.
I had one that I made into a teacup candle. However, the candle part was almost used up so I used it for this project.
Note: Here's a trick to removing wax easily. Stick the cup into the freezer for 30 minutes. Take it out and run some warm water over the outside and the wax should pop out.
2. Set the cup on its side and towards one edge of the saucer. Note where the cup meets the saucer and use some E6000 adhesive to glue it together. Unfortunately, you need to wait 24 hours for the glue to cure.
3. Once the glue cures you can pour some bird seed in the cup and saucer.
4. Use a S hook in the handle to hang your feeder wherever you like. You could also use a piece of jute or a piece of twine to hang it.
I have it hanging on a low branch of our dogwood tree.
I was worried about squirrels but so far they haven't bothered it. I think it's because the branch is pretty low and thin so it may not hold their weight.
However, it has no problem holding this cute female cardinal.
