Learn how to make bath confetti in an afternoon for shower favors, small handmade gifts, or your own little bathtime spa experience.

Bath confetti in a glassine bag and a small bottle.

There's something about confetti that says "special" and that's exactly what this fun bath confetti craft is all about. A special blend of scented confetti to add to your bath for a spa like experience.

Supplies for making bath confetti including paper solvy, mica powder, a paper punch, essential oils, fragrance oils and castile soap.

What You'll Need for Bath Confetti

    • Small bowl
    • Wooden craft stick
    • Measuring spoon
    • Paper Cutter
    • Paper punch
    • Sponge brush
    • Clothes pins
    • String
    • Water Soluble Fabric Stabilizer Sheets
    • Unscented Liquid Castile Soap
    • Essential Oils
    • Fragrance Oil
    • Mica Powder
    • Soap Colorants
Soap, mica powder and oils in a bowl mixed with a wooden craft stick.

    How to Make Bath Confetti

Step 1: Combine 2 tablespoons of liquid castile soap with about 1/4 teaspoon of mica powder. Mix well with a wooden craft stick or plastic spoon.

Note: If you are using a liquid colorant then add a few drops and see if it looks good to you. Keep in mind the color may lighten a little when it dries.  I used pink and purple mica powder but you can choose different colors for your confetti.

Step 2: Add about 20 drops of essential oil or fragrance oil and stir.

Note: You may need more or less scent depending on the strength of the fragrance you use. Start with 10 drops and increase from there. I used an uplifting blend of essential oils for the light pink confetti and lilac fragrance oil for the purple confetti. I think lavender essential oil would be a great option for a calming bath too.

A sponge brush painted soap mixture on a piece of water soluble fabric stabilizer.

Step 3: Use a sponge brush to paint the soap mixture onto both sides of the water soluble paper.

The soap painted paper hanging from mini clothespins to dry.

Step 4: Hang the paper to dry.

It's a little on the fragile side so be careful. As you can see there is a small tear at the top but it's not a big problem in the long run. Also, if you can't hang your soap paper you could try letting it dry on a cooling rack or a clothes drying rack.

Bath confetti paper cut up with a paper cutter.

Step 5: Once dry cut up the paper into smaller more manageable sizes.

A paper punch makes the round confetti from the cut pieces of soap paper.

Step 6: Punch as many circles as you can out of each piece of paper.

Note: You can use different kinds of decorative paper punches for this part. Sometimes the punch gets a soap build-up after many uses. Simply run some hot water over the punch and dry it well before trying again.

Bath confetti housed in a glass bottle with a lid and a small glassine bag.

Step 7: Store your confetti in an airtight container. I used a glassine bag and a glass bottle with a lid for gift giving.

Cut up pieces of bath confetti paper, a paper punch, a glassine bag with bath confetti spilling out and a small glass bottle with purple confetti spilling out.

It's a little time consuming punching all those circles but in the end, this DIY bath confetti is pretty sweet. And, it made our house smell wonderful while I was working on it.

    • string

    Materials

    • Unscented Castile Soap
    • Essential Oils
    • Fragrance Oil
    • Mica Powder
    • Soap Colorants

    Instructions

    • Mix 2 tablespoons of unscented castile soap with about a 1/4 teaspoon of mica powder or a few drops of soap colorant.
    • Add 20 drops or more of essential oils or fragrance oils and stir well.
    • Apply a thin coat of the soap mixture onto a piece of the fabric stabilizer paper with the sponge brush.
    • Flip the paper over and repeat on the other side.
    • Hang the paper from a piece of string with clothespins to dry.
    • Once dry cut up the paper into small workable sizes.
    • Use a paper hole punch to punch out circles in the soap paper creating confetti.
    • Store the confetti in an airtight container or place in a bottle or bag for gifting.

    Notes

To use simply sprinkle some of the confetti into a bathtub filled with warm water.
You could try food coloring but it may not mix well with the oils and liquid soap.
If you don't want to hang the paper to dry you could try letting it dry on a cooling rack or a clothes drying rack.
You can use different shape paper punches found in most craft stores instead of a standard hole punch.
You may find that the hole punch gets a soap build-up after so many punches. Simply run it under some hot water to remove the soap and dry well.
