Fudge ingredients including, chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, butter, vanilla extract, and walnuts.

    Ingredients

    • 2 cans Sweetened Condensed Milk 14 oz
    • 6 cups Bittersweet Chocolate Chips 3 - 12 oz. bags
    • .5 cup Butter (salted)
    • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
    • 1 cup Walnuts chopped

Yes, there are only five ingredients. In fact, really only four as you don't need to add the nuts. Also, I like bittersweet chips for this recipe but I also made a batch using semi-sweet chips with chopped up pretzels on the same day. Try experimenting with different types of chips and nuts or other add-ins with this easy fudge recipe.

You can also dress it up by adding more of the "mix-ins" on top or topping the fudge with decorative sprinkles for a festive look.

    Making Microwave Fudge

Step 1. Combine chocolate chips, butter, and sweetened condensed milk in a large microwavable bowl.

Chocolate fudge mixture in a large bowl with a rubber spatula.

Step 2. Start on high for 1 minute and then remove the bowl and stir well. Then continue heating in 30 second increments, stirring well each time until mixture is well incorporated (approximately 2-3 minutes total). You could also be extra cautious and heat the ingredients at half power to ensure the chocolate doesn't break.

Step 3. Once the mixture has fully melted, stir in the vanilla extract and the walnuts.

A parchment lined baking pan sprayed with cooking oil.

Step 4. Line a 9 x 13 inch pan with parchment paper, then spray the paper with cooking oil.

PS If you don't have parchment paper, you can use foil.

Step 5. Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly.

A slab of fudge from the refrigerator on parchment paper.

Step 5. Refrigerate the fudge for 2 hours or until it is firm.

Step 6. Then remove the fudge from the pan by lifting it up with the parchment paper. Cut into small pieces. I cut mine into 8 on the short side and 10 on the long side, giving me 80 pieces. However, you can vary the sizes as you like.

Store the fudge in an airtight container on the counter for up to a week or freeze it for up to 2 months.

You can add some of the "mix-ins" to the top of the fudge before refrigerating it. The image above shows one with chopped up pretzels. You could also drizzle it with caramel, or sprinkle on some flaky sea salt.

Pan of chocolate fudge with Christmas sprinkle shapes of candy canes, starts, snowflakes in green, red and white.

Doesn't this homemade fudge with holiday sprinkles look fun? You could use crushed candy canes or rainbow sprinkles. How about a drizzle of caramel sauce? An easy somewhat decadent treat that anyone would love to receive.
