This delicious whipped brie cheese is topped with a sweet and spicy jam and served with crackers, veggies, and apple slices for an easy new appetizer idea.
Though whipped feta was a popular dish a while back, it's no surprise that whipping brie would be a great idea too. In fact, when I heard of it I thought, "Why didn't I think of that?"
How to Make a Whipped Brie Dip
Ingredients
- 2 wheels (8 ounces each) of triple cream brie
- 2 ounces jam
- Crudite
- Crackers or bread round
Step 1: While the brie is still cold and firm remove the rind. I found using a vegetable peeler worked great for this task. Remove the sides then cut it into slices and remove the rind from both sides.
Next, cut the brie into cubes and let it sit out, and come to room temperature. This will make the whipping of the brie easier.
Place the warm brie cubes into a food processor and pulse. It took only about 30 seconds for my brie to become nice and creamy.
Scrape down the side and pulse a few more times to combine. The end result should look like a creamy frosting or whipped butter.
Note: You can use a hand or stand electric mixer but it will take a lot longer to whip.
Spoon the whipped brie into a bowl and spread it on top leaving some nooks and crannies for your toppings and sauce.
I used a raspberry pepper jam as my topping to the whipped brie. It wasn't very thick but if your jam is thick try heating it in the microwave or in a small pot on the stove with a touch of water.
Drizzle the jam all over.
Then serve it with crackers, cut-up vegetables, and/or fruit slices. Fresh sliced baguette bread rounds would be great too.
Other Topping Variations
- honey, maple syrup, or a savory olive oil with spices
- chopped nuts such as walnuts or pecans
- chopped dried fruits like apricots and figs
- sprigs of fresh herbs or chopped-up herbs like rosemary, thyme or basil
- gourmet salts or peppers
It's a great base for all kinds of favorite flavors. The whipped bried has the amazing taste of brie cheese with a creamy texture that's perfect for dipping veggies or fruit such as apples, grapes, and strawberries.
The only issue is that it is best served right away. If you want to make it ahead you'll need to skip the toppings, cover the cheese, and place it in the fridge. It will start to firm up in the refrigerator. So close to the time you want to serve the whipped brie dip, take it out of the refrigerator, bring it back to room temperature, and hand whip it a bit before adding the toppings.
