This recipe for brioche baked French toast is the perfect dessert to serve to overnight guests or your family on a holiday or special weekend.

Making French toast has always been a special treat and I bet everyone can agree that the hardest part is the "short-order" cooking you need to manage when there are several mouths to feed.

Why not make a casserole instead? This French bread casserole is made with brioche bread that soaks up all the yummy custard and still keeps its shape.

How to Make Brioche Baked French Bread

Step 1: Cut up the bread into cubes to fill a standard casserole dish (9 x 13). I used sliced bread (about 10 slices) but you can just as easily cut up a loaf of brioche bread. Make sure that you butter or spray the pan with cooking oil first.

Custard with eggs, half & half, cinnamon, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla in a bowl with a whisk.

Step 2: Mix up the custard by whisking together eggs, half & half, brown sugar, vanilla and ground cinnamon.

Custard poured over the cubed brioche bread in a baking pan.

Step 3: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the cubed bread.

Step 4: Then let it rest in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

Step 6: Allow the casserole to cool slightly then dust with powdered sugar.

Cut and serve with maple syrup or honey. Or enjoy the delicious of this brioche French toast casserole on its own with a side of fresh berries.
