This DIY felt leaf garland is super easy to create and will look great on your fall mantel with rich autumnal colors.
So far, I've completed a natural twig wreath and made some whimsical fall gnomes. Now, all I need is a simple garland to complete our fall mantel.

Supplies
- Twine - could be ribbon or some kind of cording
- Package of felt fall leaves - or cut out some yourself
- Walnut stain distress spray - optional
- Mini pinecones - skip this part if you don't have access and add more leaves
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
How to Make a Felt Leave Garland
I bought a package of felt fall leaves from Michaels but I really didn't like the bright colors. So, I used some Ranger distress spray in walnut stain to darken them. You could skip this step.
I will note that it took several hours for the leaves to dry after being sprayed with the walnut stain.
However, if you have some pretty felt sheets or scraps you could make a template of a simple leaf shape and make your own cut outs.
After measuring out the length of twine I needed for our mantel (plus a little extra) I started hot gluing the leaves at their stem to the twine.
Then I added some mini pinecones from the hemlock trees in our yard. I glued one in between each leaf. Of course, you could leave this step out and possibly use more leaves.
That's all there is to this one. Very simple.
Hang up the beautiful felt garland with tacks, nails, or command hooks, and enjoy. I think this fall felt leaf garland added just the right touch to this woodland gnome centric fall theme.
Happy Fall Y'all!
